The Irish Farmers Association has threatened to withdraw sugar supplies from Greencore unless the company reverses a decision to close its factory in Carlow.
The IFA has claimed that the closure of the plant is unjustified in light of the €10m profit it said Greencore made in 2004.
The company is planning to close the factory this year and consolidate production at its last remaining plant in Mallow, Co Cork.
The IFA has accused it of treating local people affected by the closure with contempt.
In threatening to withdraw supplies from Greencore, IFA spokesman John Kehoe asked: "What is the basis for continuing to do business with people who have no understanding or don't want to provide an understanding as to the implications [of the Carlow closure] for everybody concerned?"
