Kate's return sparks run on her albums

Kate Bush has become the first woman to have eight albums in the British Albums Chart at the same time.

The 56-year-old singer took to the stage for the first time in 35 years last week as she performed the first of 22 "spellbinding" shows at London's Hammersmith Apollo, and her return has now seen her become the first woman in history to have that many albums in the chart at once.

Kate's album 'The Whole Story' is at No.6 while 'Hounds of Love' is at No.9 with a further six albums featuring in the top 40.

She is beaten only by male artists Elvis - who had 12 albums in the top 40 after his death in 1977 - and The Beatles, who managed to get 11 into the charts in 2009, according to The Sun newspaper.

Meanwhile, the 'Wuthering Heights' hitmaker has revealed it was her son Bertie that gave her the courage to perform again.

She revealed previously: "Without my son Bertie, this would never have happened.

"In the early stages I was very frightened to commit to pushing the 'go' button.

"And without his encouragement and enthusiasm, I'm sure I would have backed out."
