Galwegians regained top spot in the First Division of the AIB League with a

hard-fought win over an Old Crescent side whose second-half display deserved

a bonus point at Crowley Park.

But they slumped to their sixth loss on the trot as Galwegians enhanced

their play-off hopes with a four-try victory that netted a bonus point when

Gavin Duffy crossed for a last-minute touchdown.

Galwegians led 22-6 at the break thanks to tries from Duffy, Willie Ruane

and Mervyn Murphy in response to two penalties from Billy Treacy.

A Wayne Munn try after 55 minutes and another penalty from Treacy four minutes from the end reduced the deficit to six but Galwegians finished well to net an

all-important bonus point.

Scorers: Galwegians: G. Duffy, two tries; E. Elwood, one pen; three cons; W.

Ruane, try, M. Murphy, try. Old Crescent: B. Treacy, three pens, one con; W.

Munn, try.
