Longford scrape past UCD

Longford Town 1 UCD 0

Longford Town 1 UCD 0

John Martin hit a cracker to give Longford their first win in nine matches as they gave their fans some cheer in their last home game of the season.

Both sides had half chances in a poor first half.

UCD keeper Darren Quigley was first into the action, saving well from Town striker Shane Barrett on 21 minutes before his opposite number Stephen O’Brien held a shot from Conor Kenna two minutes before the break.

Midfielder Martin finally brought the game to life when connecting with a Davy Byrne pass on 64 minutes to beat Quigley from just inside the area for what proved the only goal of the match.
