Tomorrow’s National Hunt meeting at Lingfield is subject to a 7am precautionary inspection due to the threat of cold overnight temperatures.

The course is not currently frozen and officials are not expecting a severe frost but have decided to take a look just in case.

“It’s purely precautionary,” said clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie-Ross.

“We didn’t freeze last night and we are not currently freezing at the moment. The forecast says it will drop to zero tonight so it is just to be on the safe side really, if it dropped a bit lower than that you never know.

“We are very hopeful though, the fact it didn’t freeze last night means we are in a much stronger position today.”
