Horeswood star Leigh O'Brien is to return to inter-county football to play for new Wexford manager Paul Bealin in 2006.

O'Brien, an All-Star replacement for next month's tour to Singapore, will boost Bealin's bid to lead the Model county to their first Leinster SFC title since 1945 next season, having sat out the 2005 campaign.

David Shannon and Ciaran Deeley, also from county champions Horeswood, have also been included in Bealin's preliminary squad. Former Colleges star Richie Purcell, who has not lined out for the Wexford seniors since 1997, is back too following a number of years away in New York.

The Wexford panel flys to Cyprus today for a week's holiday. 22 players underwent fitness tests at Santry Stadium last Saturday following the resumption of training in St Patrick's Park.

Dubliner Bealin, who succeeded Pat Roe last month in the managerial role, has yet to appoint his two selectors but St Mary's, Maudlintown clubman Paul Carty is to operate as the team's physical trainer.
