Andrew Balding believes Dream Eater should not be underestimated when he goes for gold in the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.
It took the son of Night Shift seven races to get his head in front, but he chose an opportune race in which to do so in the shape of a £300,000 (€432,000) Sales affair at Doncaster.
In proving a length and a quarter too strong for the reopposing Achilles Of Troy, Balding feels Dream Eater deserves a crack at the Group One prize.
He said: “The Middle Park is a massive step up in class and he has got a fair bit to find.
“Hopefully he can run a big race and we’d be delighted if he made the frame in a Group One. It would be wonderful for the horse and for his owner Jeff Smith.
“I’ve not got any great pretensions of winning the race, but at the same time it would be foolish to underestimate the horse,” he told www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk.
“He is very decent and has improved with every run.”
