Tension was rising in the camp of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here as the stars struggle to cope with life in the jungle.
Daniella Westbrook, who like Tara Palmer-Tomkinson – a contestant on the show’s first series – has suffered from drug problems in the past, broke down in tears on the second day of the reality television show and complained about her fellow celebrities need to perform.
She said: “I do not fit in with the constant acting. Some people feel like they have to get up and do the whole Tara thing, but just be yourself.”
Yesterday the former Eastender’s sentiments were echoed in a bitching session with weathergirl Sian Lloyd and dancer Wayne Sleep.
Wayne laid into the rest of the group, saying: “I can’t believe how people’s egos are so incredible. It’s just so tiring. I just do not like it. I have never known men with such egos.”
While Sian dropped her sunny exterior and blasted: “I’ve reached the stage where I don’t care. For f***’s sake, be yourselves.”
But “doing the Tara thing” and acting up for the cameras was the order of the day as the team of celebrities performed a song from the musical Cabaret.
Singer Toyah Wilcox belted out Life is a Cabaret while Wayne tap-danced in a performance the dancer described as “How to ruin 10 careers in two minutes”.
The performance earned the gang one bottle of wine – although cricketer Phil Tufnell, chef Anthony Worrall Thompson and designer Linda Barker begged for more.
It seems the starving celebrities will do anything for more food.
Yesterday Wayne had to endure an enclosure filled with more than 300 rats while wearing a hat, armbands and belt covered with waffles, although the dancer returned from the challenge with just two meal vouchers.
Now Wayne is the punters’ choice to be the first celebrity voted off the ITV show at 2-1 favourite (from 3-1) with bookies Coral.
Former England bowler Phil is favourite to win the show.
Today footballer John Fashanu faces the Bridge of Doom, a precarious rope bride above the jungle canopy, to feed the hungry celebrities.
