Israelis are marking the 13th anniversary of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s death at the hands of an assassin opposed to his peace policies.
Government officials are set to attend a ceremony at Mr Rabin’s grave in Jerusalem later today. Other events are planned elsewhere in the country.
A memorial rally will be held on November 8 at the Tel Aviv square where Mr Rabin was gunned down after a peace rally. It was renamed Rabin Square in his honour.
Yigal Amir shot Rabin three times on November 4, 1995. Amir wanted to stop the peace process Mr Rabin initiated with the Palestinians.
The head of Israel’s Shin Bet security service warned on Sunday that extremist Jewish settlers might carry out another political assassination.
Yuval Diskin said he was “very concerned” about the possibility.
