Insurance companies face a €38m bill as a result of the October floods.
They have said they have processed almost 2,800 claims.
1,600 of these were from householders, 900 from businesses and 280 from motorists.
The Irish Insurance Federation`, which represents the companies, has said the Government needs to invest more money in flood prevention projects as many parts of the country are still at risk of serious flooding.
