Church minister supports McCartney wedding rumours

An Irish church minister says he believes Paul McCartney's wedding will take place at Castle Leslie in County Monaghan.

Officials at the castle have played down rumours that it will be the wedding venue, insisting the castle's being used for a 'product launch.'

But Gary Roberts believes the wedding will be at Castle Leslie, with the nearby church providing a "fairytale setting."

Mr Roberts, who conducts Sunday services at the church, says there has been huge activity within the castle grounds in recent days.

He said: "There are two rumours in the village. One is that Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills were getting married there - there is certainly something big happening there - the second is that there is a product launch.

"At this stage I would think that it seems to me like the wedding would be most likely, that would be my own feelings."

When asked if he knew for certain whether the service would be held at the castle, Mr Roberts, originally from east London, said: "No comment, I cannot say why I can't comment."

A 100-strong private security team, which has been drafted in from Scotland, was being briefed today about the Sunday service at the church. A handful of villagers attend the Sunday service, but it is thought journalists could attempt to use the day as an opportunity to get a peek at the preparations.

Two giant marquees and a covered walkway have already been erected in the castle grounds, and workmen are installing lights in the trees.

A no-fly zone has been imposed over the grounds, according to local helicopter lease companies, preventing journalists from photographing the preparations and party.
