Tipperary senior hurling star Paul Ormonde is facing an enforced lay off from gaelic games activity having suffered a recurrence of a groin injury which has dogged his season.
The Loughmore/Castleiney man was forced to withdraw from his club's championship game last weekend and is now having further examination and scans to reveal whether or not he requires surgery to repair the damaged groin.
Ormonde has been one of the mainstays of the Tipperary defence over the last number of seasons but he has been struggling in recent times with a series of shoulder and groin injuries.
This latest setback could mean that Ormonde will be out of action for a number of weeks.
