Republic of Ireland International Jason McAteer is hoping to complete a transfer to Sunderland later this week.

This will end an unhappy term for McAteer, who had been shunned by Graeme Souness at Ewood Park.

Blackburn supposedly want £1m for the Irish winger.

McAteer’s career has recently been revived by his goal against Holland in Ireland’s World Cup qualifier.
