Scott Brown has agreed a move to Celtic, according to his agent Willie McKay.
The Hibernian midfielder, 21, had been linked with a host of clubs, including Rangers, Middlesbrough, Everton and Tottenham.
But the Scottish champions appear to have won the race for the signature of one of Scottish football’s most highly-rated young players.
Celtic were today reported to have had a £4.4m offer for the player accepted.
And Middlesbrough yesterday confirmed they had held talks with the Bank of Scotland Premier League club over the player.
But McKay claims Brown – who is understood to have had a medical in Edinburgh this afternoon – turned down a lucrative mouth south of the border because Celtic “ticked all the boxes.”
McKay told Scotland Today: “It’s a fantastic move for Scott. He is going to a very big club, who will be playing in the Champions League next year.
“Scott and his family are delighted he is going to Celtic.
“There were a host of clubs after Scott and some English clubs offered more money.
“But Celtic ticked all the boxes for Hibs and for his personal terms. He is delighted to join Celtic.”
