Brown not giving up on Zamora

Hull manager Phil Brown insists the deal to sign Bobby Zamora remains very much alive despite claims to the contrary from Fulham boss Roy Hodgson.

Hull manager Phil Brown insists the deal to sign Bobby Zamora remains very much alive despite claims to the contrary from Fulham boss Roy Hodgson.

The Tigers have had a £5m bid accepted for the striker and the former England Under-21 international held discussions with Brown over a move to the KC Stadium.

Hodgson, who yesterday lost out to Tottenham on signing Peter Crouch, believes Zamora has decided to stay at Fulham.

Brown has so far been frustrated in his hunt for a striker having failed to sign Fraizer Campbell, Michael Owen and Marc-Antoine Fortune but is confident the deal for Zamora is still on.

“As far as I am concerned the door is not closed,” he said.

“The deal has been agreed between the two clubs and now we are trying to agree personal terms and that is where we stand.”

Meanwhile, reports suggesting Hull have expressed their interest in Tottenham full-back Alan Hutton have been rubbished by Harry Redknapp.

“I never had an approach from Hull for Alan Hutton,” said the Spurs boss.

“I don’t know anything about that.”
