Ireland keeper Doyle signs new Birmingham deal

Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Colin Doyle has today signed a new four-year Birmingham City contract which could keep him at St Andrew's until the summer of 2011.

Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Colin Doyle has today signed a new four-year Birmingham City contract which could keep him at St Andrew's until the summer of 2011.

Doyle has been in sparkling form for Steve Bruce's side since breaking into the side in place of Maik Taylor in early February.

Doyle produced a man-of-the-match performance in last weekend's 3-2 Coca-Cola Championship win at Wolves, including saving a penalty in injury time.

The 21-year-old recently received his first call up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad.

Blues coach Eric Black said: "Colin has waited patiently for his chance but now he has grabbed it with both hands.

"He has got a magnificent presence and his handling has been secure. I can only see him developing into an even better keeper over the next year or two."
