Spanish pop singer Enrique Iglesias said today he has tried repeatedly to convince his girlfriend Anna Kournikova to marry him - with no luck.

Iglesias spoke to reporters after arriving in the Dominican Republic for the first of nine concerts planned across Latin America.

Iglesias said he has been involved with the 26-year-old tennis star for at least three years, adding that she keeps ignoring his appeals to wed.

“I always try, but she pays me no attention,” the 32-year-old said.

The Madrid-born artist is the son of crooner Julio Iglesias and enjoyed a UK number one single with 'Hero' in 2001.
