Confusion over Britney's 'wedding'

A US magazine has claimed Britney Spears' wedding to Kevin Federline was a hoax.

A US magazine has claimed Britney Spears' wedding to Kevin Federline was a hoax.

The couple married in a brief ceremony in California, on Saturday evening in front of 25 guests including friends and family members.

But the latest edition of US Weekly features a four-page document signed by the couple, in which they confess they "intend to participate in a 'faux' wedding on September 18, 2004; however, they do not intend to and shall not validly marry one another on said date".

US Weekly claim the couple were unable to obtain a marriage license in time, after both parties wrangled over a pre-nuptial agreement - so they went ahead with the fake wedding.

A spokesperson for Spears, however, insists the magazine report is false: "This is all ludicrous. They are happily married, and I have no reason to believe otherwise."
