Keaney a doubt for Limerick clash due to bike accident

Conal Keaney was injured in a traffic accident on the way to work this morning and will miss Dublin's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Limerick on Sunday.

Conal Keaney was injured in a traffic accident on the way to work this morning, just days before Dublin's All-Ireland crucial SHC quarter-final clash with Limerick.

It is understood that Keaney, who was travelling to work on a motorbike, hurt his leg when he was accidentally struck by a van.

While the accident makes him a major doubt for Sunday's quarter-final in Thurles, no decision has been taken yet on his availability for the game.

The extent of the injury has not been confirmed. Keaney is currently being examined by doctors in Tallaght Hospital, according to a Dublin GAA spokesman.

The Ballyboden St. Enda's clubman was ever-present during the Dubs' Leinster Championship campaign this summer, scoring 0-5 mainly from wing forward.

He helped them end their long wait for an Allianz Hurling League title earlier in the year, and would be a huge loss as they try to qualify for their first All-Ireland semi-final since 1948.
