The last big music event of the summer gets underway in Co Laois later today.

The annual Electric Picnic music and arts festival, which is now into its ninth year, is taking place at Stradbally Hall.

Over 30,000 people are set to attend the three day event during which over 200 musical acts are due to perform.

Electric Picnic publicist Lindsey Holmes says the campsites will open from 9 o'clock this morning, adding: "Make sure you follow road signage, it'll be signed very clearly."

"Bring plenty of clothes for both weathers but we believe the weather will be good."
