It will need a miracle now for Padraig Harrington to land a £1.2m (€1.8m) jackpot - possibly the biggest prize in golf – at Wentworth tomorrow.
The chances of the Dubliner claiming the prize – almost £500,000 (€737,000) for winning the BMW PGA title and a £680,000 (€1m) bonus for having lifted the Irish Open last week as well – were bright when he went into the third round only two off the lead.
But Harrington, admitting he was mentally and physically tired, had five bogeys in the first 11 holes and finished the day with a 75.
He goes into the last day seven shots adrift of leaders Paul Broadhurst and Ross Fisher.
