Alan Munro had the son of Danehill Dancer chasing the leaders through the early paces before switching him for a run over two furlongs out.
The 5-1 chance quickened up in impressive fashion to streak clear of Star Crowned and score by three and a half lengths.
But Aidan O’Brien’s much-hyped Pescatorio was a major disappointment and never got competitive.
Now connections will have to ponder whether to stump up the £25,000 (€36,200) required to enter the winner at this stage for the Stan James 2000 Guineas.
“We would have to supplement him and I’m not big on doing that,” said trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam.
“It costs a lot of money.
“I will have to have a talk with the owner and see what he wants to do. We could go next for a Listed race, there’s the Heron Stakes, and then maybe step off at Royal Ascot. We could possibly make him into a St James’ Palace horse. You never know.
“He has always been a good horse. He ran once last year and that was at Leicester where he cracked his pelvis in the race. We’ve managed to get him back and his owner has been very patient.”
