Smart German colt Saddex will complete his preparations for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with a workout on Tuesday morning.
Peter Rau’s four-year-old catapulted into the Arc equation at Cologne, where he made short work of the likes of Laverock in the Group One Rheinland-Pokal.
That was his third Pattern-race success and Rau expects him to strut his stuff with similar finesse at Longchamp on Sunday.
“He will run in the Arc and we hope things go to plan,” said the German handler.
“It’s a tough race but he is a very good horse.
“He is fit and well and will work on Tuesday morning, before going to Paris on Saturday.
“His regular jockey, Torsten Mundry, will ride him – he knows the horse very well.”
Saddex, as low as 14-1 with Coral to win Europe’s premier mile-and-a-half test, will be unperturbed by the possibility of trying conditions at the heart of the Bois de Boulogne.
Rau added: “There is no question about the ground. I think if it comes soft it will fit in well with the horse.”
