A worker has been killed at a Jaguar Land Rover factory in Britain.

Merseyside Police launched a joint investigation with the UK Health and Safety Executive last night following the fatal incident at a plant in Halewood, Merseyside.

Officers were called to the factory by paramedics shortly after 8pm. On arrival, they found a local man in his late 40s being treated for serious injuries.

The man was taken to Whiston Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead at around 10.30pm.

A police spokesman said: “The scene was cordoned off and an investigation into how the victim, who was a worker at the site, was fatally injured is now under way.

“No-one else was injured during the incident.

“Merseyside Police and the HSE are treating the death as unexplained.”

A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish a cause of death, police added.
