Newcastle's Bank Holiday Monday fixture is subject to a second inspection at 8am tomorrow morning.
Clerk of the course James Armstrong checked the track this morning and although conditions are improving, he has been forced to abandon the two races on the round course.
However, the straight course is in better shape and if he gives the meeting the go-ahead, he plans to divide one of the races on the straight course in order to stage a six-race card at Gosforth Park.
"The round course is unraceable so we have had to abandon the two-mile race and the mile and a half race," said Armstrong.
"Which ever of the other races has the biggest field, we will divide to give us six races.
"We have had a dry night and the forecast is promising and although the straight course still has to improve, we are going to give it 24 hours so it has every chance.
"We will have another look at 8am tomorrow and see where we are."
