Grenade man takes hostages

A man armed with a hand grenade took hostages in a Ukrainian government building in the capital Kiev today.

A man armed with a hand grenade took hostages in a Ukrainian government building in the capital Kiev today.

Police, who surrounded the Agrarian Policy Ministry, said the man’s demands were not immediately known.

The man was a farmer from southern Ukraine who earlier had been denied permission to demonstrate near the ministry building.
