Rap superstar Sean 'P Diddy' Combs will celebrate his 35th birthday with a "Royal Birthday Ball" in New York city.

The flamboyant hip-hop entrepreneur originally planned a Gone With the Wind-themed bash on 4 November - but has now opted for an elegant affair at the Cipriani restaurant, where he celebrated his 30th birthday.

According to PageSix.com the invitations read: "Throw caution, conservatism, and trend to the wind. You must show your assets. Be a style icon. Dress as you have never dressed before. Marvel in the spectacle that is fashion.

"Your code of dress shall begin with silk, velvet and other luxurious fabrics and end beautifully in hand-tailored suits and gorgeous dresses flown in from the fashion houses of Paris. Blazers and bland outfits do not exist in this land. Instead, three-piece suits, tuxedos and ascots for the gentlemen rule alongside the sexy elegance of the women."

Combs is so keen to accommodate guests, he has even listed designers who will be able to dress guests - including Saks, Prada, Valentino, Versace, Oscar De La Renta, Jean Pau Gaultier and Givenchy.

According to PageSix, the guest list includes Mariah Carey and Bruce Willis.
