The European Union and France have threatened to withdraw from the UN conference on racism in South African unless anti-Israeli language is removed from the proposed declaration.

The European Union and France have threatened to withdraw from the UN conference on racism in South African unless anti-Israeli language is removed from the proposed declaration.

The United States and Israel both walked out of the conference on Monday over efforts to condemn Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian population.

The original text of the conference declaration equated Zionism with racism and said the existence of the Israeli state is “based on racial superiority”.
