A 22-year-old Palestinian woman has been killed and four others hurt after a taxi exploded in the West Bank.

A 22-year-old Palestinian woman has been killed and four others hurt after a taxi exploded in the West Bank.

The cause of the explosion in the town of Tulkarem is not yet known.

Palestinian security officials say the blast could have been caused by a bomb inside the car or by a missile attack fired from an Israeli helicopter.

Israel has carried out a policy of targeted killings against Palestinians it says are involved in planning attacks against Israeli citizens. The army says it is checking the incident.

The identities of the passengers are not yet known.
