Sleep-starved housemates are nod amused

Sleep deprivation is causing friction in the Big Brother House as housemates finish their second day of enforced wakefulness.

Sleep deprivation is causing friction in the Big Brother House as housemates finish their second day of enforced wakefulness.

Big Brother has promised a luxury food budget to the contestants if they manage to stay awake .

Last night the contestants were told that they were collectively allowed just four hours of sleep until 10pm tomorrow, with a clock ticking down as soon as one or more of them nodded off.

After a night of wakefulness the housemates were already talking about quitting the task, angering Ziggy.

“It’s just cigarettes, cigarettes, cigarettes,” he said. “Saying, ’Deal with it’. ’Deal with it’ means ’shut up’. We want to complete this task. And I want to complete it not ’cos you told me to deal with it.”

Even the normally incendiary Charley realised that the deterioration in house morale was reducing their chances of winning the task.

“Let’s just cope with this,” she said, before shouting: “We’re all going maaadd!!!”

The housemates kept themselves awake during the afternoon by dressing up as sheep in the hope of earning an extra hour of sleep for their Sleep Bank.

Liam and Laura dressed as Bo Peep and were tasked with counting the number of times the rest of the housemates jumped over fences in the garden.

Later tiredness got the better of the usually cheerful Tracey.

“People just give up so ******* easily, that’s what annoys me – know what I mean?” she said.

Liam tried to be diplomatic on the subject, saying: “I cannot help but think there’s different people in the house now, you know? We’ve all got to pull together as best we can.”

The popular housemate, who has already won £100,000 in the show, is also the favourite to win the contest, according to Ladbrokes.

He is now 3/1, from 7/2, to win the reality TV show and add another £100,000 to his already bulging bank account.

Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg said: “Liam continues to go from strength to strength. His easy-going manner has been a real hit with punters and fans alike.

“The money keeps coming and there’s a real danger he could turn into this series’ cult hero, just like Pete did last year.”
