Bosnian farmers blocked four of the country’s main border crossings today to protest free trade agreements that they say threaten their livelihoods, farmers associations said.

Bosnian Serb, Croat and Muslim farmers for the first time since the end of the 1992-1995 war staged a joint protest and blocked four border crossings between Bosnia and Croatia, the associations’ statement said.

The farmers claim that the free trade agreement with more developed Croatia will hurt them because Croatian farmers use more sophisticated farming technology that allows them to sell their products at lower prices.
