Forest appeal Dawson's red card

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they have lodged an appeal with the FA over Michael Dawson’s play-off red card.

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they have lodged an appeal with the FA over Michael Dawson’s play-off red card.

Dawson was sent off seven minutes from the end of Forest’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield United in Saturday’s semi-final first leg.

The defender was shown a straight red card and is set to miss three games, including Thursday’s second leg and the final should Forest make it that far.

But the club have appealed to the FA and hope referee Mark Clattenburg reviews his decision.

Club secretary Paul White said: “We have lodged an appeal with the Football Association and expect the matter to be dealt with in the next 48 hours.”
