The Connaught football title is up for grabs this afternoon as Galway take on Sligo in Castlebar at 2.40pm.
The reigning All Ireland Champions failed to even win their provincial final last season and will be looking to recapture the title today.
The last time the two sides met in the final was in 1971 when the Tribesmen won the match by a single point although most observers say that Galway should win by a more comfortable margin today.
Sligo however have enjoyed some impressive form in recent seasons and will be quietly confident of upsetting Galway later today.
John O’Mahony’s side have cruised through to today’s final without ever really looking troubled with Michael Donnellan and Padraig Joyce leading the attack which will look to outscore Sligo.
There is also an All Ireland football qualifier this afternoon as Kerry take on John O’Leary’s Wicklow side in Portlaise at 3.30pm.
Kerry will have to recover quickly from last weekend’s defeat at the hands of Cork in the Munster Championship if they are to extend their season into July.
