Hospitality industry gets thumbs up

The UK and Ireland hospitality industry is in better shape and offers a higher quality service than virtually ever before, according to the latest findings from RAC’s expert team of hotel inspectors who, along with their predecessors, have been monitoring standards for exactly 100 years.

The motoring organisation’s newly-announced annual awards show a substantial increase in the number of properties picked out as demonstrating high, excellent or even the finest possible standards.

“Last year just over 200 hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses stood out from the crowd – and that’s risen to almost 250 this year”, says RAC head of hotels Gary Elliott.

“In fact, with so many recommendable options, we’ve introduced a new award this year – the RAC White Ribbon – specifically to help customers make informed decisions on where to find accommodation that best suits their needs.

“The last few years have been difficult ones for the hospitality industry worldwide. But, in the UK and Ireland, the choice of available quality accommodation has never been wider – and, for anyone selecting their accommodation with reputable guidance, standards have never been higher.”
