An online ticket sales firm, Viagogo, has announced plans to open a new operations centre in Limerick which is expected to creates hundreds of jobs.
Viagogo.com will create a number of technical and customer service roles for people with who can speak German, French, Italian, and Spanish.
The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
The new centre will open later this year.
Edward Parkinson, operations manager for the Viagogo Group, said: "We reviewed many locations for our latest operations centre but we chose Limerick for its reputation as a place of excellence and local talent.
"We have already recruited in the tens but numbers are expected to reach the hundreds in due course.
IDA Ireland CEO Barry O’Leary said: "Companies are attracted to Limerick for a variety of reasons – access to excellent talent from the University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology, as well as proximity to international routes in Shannon being but a few examples."
Limerick City and County Council Chief Executive Conn Murray has welcomed the announcement.
He said: "It is a great boost of confidence that the Viagogo group, after reviewing many other locations across Ireland, will base its international operations centre in Limerick city initially and then in Castletroy.
"Limerick is a perfect location for the world’s largest ticket marketplace operator to base itself because of the pool of local talent available, the proximity to Shannon International Airport and the flexible and available workforce that exists here."
