Sharon Stone auctioned off 100 of her own handbags in a bid to raise cash for Lupus research.

Stone got active in helping to find a cure for the auto-immune disease when her sister Kelly was diagnosed with Lupus last year and took charge of a celebrity auction in Beverly Hills on Thursday.

As well as selling off designer handbags donated by fellow celebrities like Julia Roberts and Elizabeth Taylor, Stone opened her own closets and decided to get rid of her bag collection.

She says: "How many bags do you really need? We really need a cure for Lupus but I don't really need very many handbags."
