Louth reappoint Fitzpatrick as football manager

Peter Fitzpatrick will continue as Louth senior football manager into next season, after getting the support of the Louth County Board executive.

Fitzpatrick was given a three-year term when he took the reins in 2009, subject to a review after two seasons.

The review duly came after the Wee County's disappointing Championship defeats to Carlow and Meath this summer.

At last night's County Board meeting in the Clan na Gael clubrooms in Dundalk, the Louth executive, who carried out a review process, recommended that Fitzpatrick be ratified for a third year in charge.

County Board delegates present discussed the decision and backed it, with a vote not required.

Last year Fitzpatrick, who is a Fine Gael TD, guided Louth through to their first Leinster SFC final in 50 years only to lose out in controversial circumstances to Meath.

They secured the Division 3 title in this year's Allianz Football League and will be competing in Division 2 next spring.
