Irish trainer Eamonn Sheehy has been hit with a double blow today with two of his recent winners being disqualified after traces of an illegal substance were found.
Urine samples taken from winners Rathgar Beau and Paddy’s Girl were found to contain a prohibitive substance Phenylbutazone, a prohibited substance.
However, his two fines, which totalled €260, were waived by the Irish Turf Club’s appeals and referrals committee.
The committee were satisfied that the substance was administered unknowingly and that the trainer had taken all reasonable precautions.
BHP Laboratories in Limerick found that a urine sample taken from Paddy’s Girl following her success in the Horse and Jockey Handicap Hurdle at Thurles on February 1 was found to contain Phenylbutazone.
There were similar findings following Rathgar Beau’s win in the Red Mills Steeplechase at Gowran Park on February 14.
The Red Mills Chase has been awarded to Tony Mullins’ Barrow Drive, with Garvivonian promoted to second, and Artic Copper third.
Paddys Girl’s disqualification means that Cotton Picker has been promoted to first place with Little Ora second and Steel Band third.
