It is hoped Ireland will be able to attract more American companies to set up European bases here, as a result of the UK decision.
Mark Fielding of ISME has said Ireland already has strong links with the US: “We are the only English speaking country left in there.
“Geographically we are next to the EU, we have similar systems to the US, educational standards, common law, all of those things will point to the US looking at us and we already have an excellent experience with them.”
Chief Economist at Friends First Jim Power says the UK and the European Union are now in an economic and political crisis as a result of the vote: “I thought when push came to shove the British electorate would actually see sense.
“But obviously that has not turned out to be the case and I think Britain and the Eu have a economic and political crisis on their hands at the moment.”
