The insurance company RSA, which owns the 123.ie brand, has been forced to inject up to €83m in its Irish operations.
It follows an investigation by the company which found that it was not setting aside enough money to deal with all potential compensation claims.
The company's Chief Executive and a number of other executives have been suspended pending a full investigation.
In a statement this evening RSA says no policy holders are affected by today's announcement and its working with the Central Bank on the matter.
