Anastacia will be "no Simon Cowell" in her new role as a talent search judge.
The 'One Day In Your Life' hitmaker - who appears on the judging panel of new Five reality show 'Don't Stop Believing' - hasn't got as harsh a tongue as the music mogul, because she doesn't want to "crush people's dreams".
She said: "I really don't want to crush too many people's dreams along the way. I'm an honest person, but I don't believe in cruelty. I think you can be kind without having to lie.
"I'm certainly no Simon Cowell, but I'm no Paula Abdul either. I'm going to try and be a combination of the both."
The show - which will see Anastacia judge contestants alongside Blue star Duncan James, actress Tamzin Outhwaite and choreographer Charles 'Chucky' Klapow - is said to be a cross between 'The X Factor' and hit US musical TV show 'Glee', and is to be hosted by former Spice Girl Emma Bunton.
However, Anastacia admits she initially found it difficult to abandon her singing roots.
She said: "The fact that I'm a judge on the show is me filling completely different shoes to begin with. Picking up a microphone and talking, rather than singing, into it was very strange at first!"
