Dual star Stephen Lucey is expected to return to action for Limerick on Saturday. But it will not be known for a few days whether he lines out for the footballers against Offaly in Limerick at 2pm or the hurlers against Antrim at Parnell Park at 7pm.
Lucey was an unused substitute for the hurlers in last Saturday's All-Ireland SHC qualifier win over Wexford. He has been nursing a hamstring injury of late but will be available to line out for his county this weekend.
Lucey's Croom club-mate Mark O'Riordan is also a dual player. He too will not know for which team he will be chosen until later this week.
Limerick GAA officials had been hoping to have the hurling qualifier put back 24 hours to Sunday, in order to accommodate their dual players, but there was no budging from the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee.
Both Limerick managers have injury worries ahead of their respective games. Hurling boss Donal O'Grady, speaking after the victory over Wexford, admitted: "The only problem we have is that we have a quick turnaround.
"We won't have any time to plan for the next match but we'll have to take that as it comes.
"Brian Geary came off with a slight groin problem, he's had that for a while. Graeme Mulcahy hurt his ankle and Tom Condon, I'm not quite sure whether it's his ankle or his shin. These will have to be looked at."
Meanwhile, Limerick football supremo Maurice Horan has a string of injuries to contend with, but good news is that former captain Tom Stack is back in training with the squad.
Stack last played for the county in 2005 and since then he has coached the Limerick Ladies football team and has been a football analyst with Limerick's Live 95FM.
So far this summer, he has been performing to a high standard for club side Dromcollogher-Broadford. He also played for Limerick in a challenge match against Waterford last week.
