Aer Lingus reported a fall in passenger numbers of 1.2% for February, compared to the same period last month.
However, the company saw an increase of 7% in long-haul passenger numbers – from 43,000 to 46,000 year on year.
The fall in overall figures comes from the drop of 3.8% in short haul passengers, to 512,000.
Total traffic for the month, including Aer Lingus Regional scheduled flights, was down 1.2% to 640,000 passengers.
The company also saw a slight dip in plan load factors, falling 1.3%on short haul flights to 68.7% and 0.3% on long haul flight 64.7%
Meanwhile, Ryanair reported traffic growth of 7% – about 300,000 passengers – to a total of 4.5m passengers in February.
Their load factors also increased by 1% to 78%.
