Shelbourne manager Pat Fenlon is currently in talks with former Republic of Ireland international Curtis Fleming with a view to signing the 37-year-old on a six-month contract.
Fleming, who won 10 Ireland caps under Mick McCarthy, is looking for a return to his native Dublin after 13 years plying his trade in England with Middlesbrough, Birmingham City, Crystal Palace and Darlington.
Having been training with St Patrick’s Athletic over the last few weeks – Fleming’s first League club with whom he won the 1990 League title – he has now returned to England.
“He’s in England so he won't be signed today but a deal could be agreed or not agreed,” admitted Fenlon.
The manager hopes a deal for the right back, giving him valuable cover for captain Owen Heary, can be sorted quickly making him eligible for the second round of the Champions League should Shelbourne progress.
