Derry close gap on Cork

Drogheda United 1 Derry City 1

A terrific late goal from substitute Kevin Deery salvaged a point for Derry to stretch their unbeaten run to a staggering eighteen games.

Drogheda dominated the first half and would have been disappointed not to have been further than 1-0 up at the break.

That came on 13 minutes when Gavin Whelan shot past David Forde.

But Deery levelled nine minutes from time when he fired home following Gary Beckett's clever back heel.
