16 in hospital after mass shooting at US park

At least 16 people have been taken to hospital after a mass shooting at a park in the US.

Police say hundreds of people were at the Bunny Friend playground in New Orleans to see a music video being filmed when a gunfight broke out between two groups.

Superintendent Michael Harrison said officers who were on their way to shut down the impromptu shoot, which did not have a permit, were about a bock away when they heard gun shots.

Several ambulances scrambled to the scene. The victims are all understood to be in a stable condition.

"At the end of the day it's really hard to police against a bunch of guys who decide to pull out guns and settle disputes with 300 people between them," Mayor Mitch Landrieu said at a press conference later that evening.
