Venables attacks transfer window

Leeds manager Terry Venables has added his voice to the volley of criticism aimed at football's transfer window.

Leeds manager Terry Venables has added his voice to the volley of criticism aimed at football's transfer window.

World governing body Fifa decided in March that players could only move clubs during the off-season and for a month beginning on 1 January.

But Venables questions the merit of the system, arguing it does nothing to benefit the English game.

"I can't see how the transfer window is for the betterment of the game. I don't see how it helps the clubs, the players, the manager or the team," Venables said.
