Drinks group Irish Distillers have made solid progress in the United States market, the company reported today.

Both its Jameson and Bushmills whiskey brands achieved what the company termed "enviable" growth rates across the country.

At the 2003 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Irish Distillers collected five awards for their whiskeys and even more prestigiously won the coveted Distiller of the Year title.

The company also collected two prestigious awards from the world renowned Malt Advocate at the New York Whisky Fest.

Jameson's 18-year-old Master Blender's Selection, which was recently introduced into the US market, was awarded the import Blend of the Year while US 'Food & Wine' Magazine awarded it the Best Irish Whiskey of the Year.
