New parents will know just how difficult it can be to just get out of the house and enjoy something as simple as eating out.

And even more so when you are solo, breastfeeding and your newborn needs a feed.

Yesterday, Briar Lusia McQueen from Mount Maunganui in New Zealand went out for breakfast alone with her baby son for the very first time.

And just as her food arrived, eight-week-old Jaxon began to cry (typical, says you).

"Today was the first time I went out for breakfast alone with my 8 week old son, I had just received my breakfast and hot chocolate when Jaxon started crying wanting his booby so of course I fed him," Briar explained.

After a few minutes, the pair were approached by an older lady and Briar's first thought was that she had issue with her breastfeeding in public. But she was pleasantly surprised when the woman instead wanted to make sure she enjoyed her meal.

"I was scared, thinking she was gonna tell me to put my boob away, instead she starts cutting up my breakfast for me and said "what a good mama you are, we can't have your food getting cold can we."

"I honestly could have cried... loveliest lady EVER!!"

Briar shared the story on her Facebook page and it clearly resonated with new moms as it's since gone viral across the site - when an Australian talk show posted the photo, it received over 200,000 likes.

A reminder that the smallest acts of kindness can make a big impact.
