Tottenham have confirmed captain and Ledley King will not feature in the final six matches of the Barclays Premier League season as he continues recovery from a knee injury.

The England defender has managed only 10 appearances, including the Carling Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley.

King, 27, will now spend the remainder of the campaign ensuring he is on track with his rehabilitation process.

“My knee is actually feeling good at the moment and there is no inflammation, but we have to look at the bigger picture and accept that this is an ideal point in time to recover further, get best advice and make sure that I come back fitter,” King said in a statement on the club‘s official website, www.www.tottenhamhotspur.com.

“They are six games I could well have taken part in, but we all believe this is worth doing for the longer term benefit.”
